upon thresholds

leave behind the sowing

souring

sorrow

yesterday will not become

tomorrow

the sack we carry

slung over bare backs

of centuries

and

centuries

who’s number has

become so

numb

and apathetic

to all these

painful years

Sunflowers grew only

by our tears

streams of saline

rolling check

bones

blushing

smear away the shame

shake

shake

fear

all the way

away

On this day

I reclaim

my Power

on this day

I see the sun

fall through

clouds

and tepid waters

ankle deep and

rushing

rolling

waves lapping

upon thresholds

I let go
